1. How do I find reliable business partners in the Netherlands?
You can use business networks or support services to find distributors, agents, or buyers. Attending trade fairs or joining trade missions helps meet potential partners and evaluate them directly. Always check whether the company is registered in the national business register to verify credibility.
2. What steps are required to export products from India to the Netherlands?
First, register your business and obtain a valid Importer Exporter Code (IEC). Then prepare an export plan covering production capacity, logistics, customs documentation (invoice, packing list, certificate of origin), and transport arrangements. Perform market research to ensure demand, and check that your product meets Dutch regulations for labeling, safety, packaging, and import duties.
3. What legal and customs formalities should I follow when importing Indian goods into the Netherlands?
Goods coming from outside the EU must be declared to Dutch Customs via proper import declaration. Consider import duties, VAT, product compliance (safety, labeling, packaging), and possibly CE marking depending on the product. Importers also need registration with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK) and possibly an EORI number for customs clearance.
4. Why is market research important before exporting to the Netherlands / EU?
Market research helps evaluate demand for your product and whether you can compete successfully. It also helps understand consumer preferences, regulatory requirements, customs duties, competition, and pricing — all essential for a sustainable export plan.
5. What support can exporters get when starting international trade between India and Europe?
Exporters can get guidance from government agencies and business networks to find partners abroad. For Indian exporters, obtaining an IEC and registering with export‑promotion councils provides access to export benefits and trade fairs. Export-support funds or SME loan guarantees may also be available depending on the target market.
